To be eligible:

 

- Current senior

- Applied and accepted tutor

- 50 volunteer hours (maximum of 20 of these may be earned during our summer hours). Hours must meet the following criteria:

1) Completed within the January 1st, 2017 - March 31st, 2017 time frame

2) Were signed up 48 hours in advance (cancellations within this period will be frowned upon as well)

3) Were completed after the student had officially been accepted.

 

Please wear your Merry Tutor t-shirt to tutoring sessions; this shows commitment to The Merry Tutor and allows tutees to find us.

 

Applications components:

 

- Service hour report (these do not need to be requested-- we will compile them-- but realize these will be considered throughout the application process)

- Teacher recommendation (from a teacher from your school)

- Essay (prompts to be released)

- Statement from counselor/school adviser asserting GPA is over 3.5

 

Other things considered:

 

- Hours beyond the 50 hour requirement

- Promotion of The Merry Tutor in school and community

- Involvement in non-tutoring aspects of The Merry Tutor

- Recruitment of other tutors or tutees

- Wearing t-shirt

- Signing up more than 48 hours in advance

- et cetera

 

Applications will be evaluated blindly (i.e. names will be removed from all parts of application) by an independent committee.
